Depart London Heathrow on a scheduled Air New Zealand flight to Auckland via Los Angeles or Hong Kong.Day 2

Arrive Auckland
Arrival in Auckland is during the late morning. Transfer by private car to your accommodation. Your driver will hand over your full tour documentation. The rest of the day is at leisure to start to explore the "City of Sails".

Auckland - Bay of Islands
Join the full day scheduled seat-in-coach tour to Paihia in the Bay of Islands. on arrival enjoy the famous "Hole in the Rock" cruise. A picnic lunch is included today. After your tour your driver will drop you off at your hotel.
Day 5
Auckland - Waitomo - Rotorua (370 kms/231 miles)
Collect your hire car and depart Auckland and make your way south to Rotorua via Waitomo. Entrance to the Waitomo Glow-worm Caves is included for you to experience a guided tour of this ancient labyrinth of limestone caverns.

Rotorua
Today enjoy sightseeing the Rotorua area. Visits are included to the Maori Arts & Crafts Institute and Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, Paradise Valley Springs, the Agrodome Sheep Show, Skyline Gondola and the Polynesian Spa. This evening enjoy a Maori "hangi" (dinner) and concert held on a local Marae.

Rotorua - Wellington (460 kms/287 miles)
Depart Rotorua and head south via Lake Taupo and the volcanic Tongariro National Park to Wellington - the capital city of New Zealand.

A day to explore this attractive city. Perhaps visit the internationally renowned "Te Papa" museum or take the cable car to the top of Mount Victoria and walk back throughthe glorious botanic gardens.
Day 9
Wellington - Picton - Christchurch (onboard the InterIslander ferry and Tranz Coastal train)
Return the rental car to the Counter at the InterIslander Ferry Terminal and take the morning InterIslander Ferry across Cook Strait and the picturesque Marlborough Sound to Picton. On arrival in Picton take the courtesy shuttle bus to the Rail Station. Depart Picton on the Tranz Coastal Train and travel down the East Coast during the afternoon to Christchurch. on arrival in Christchurch in the early evening transfer by private car to your accommodation.

Spend today in the lovely "garden city" of Christchurch - renowned for its historic architecture. Perhaps stroll through the gardens of Mona Vale, or take a punt on the River Avon.

Christchurch - Greymouth (onboard the TranzAlpine train)
There is a private car transfer to the Rail Station before you depart Christchurch on the Tranz Alpine train and travel across Arthurs Pass in the Southern Alps to Greymouth on the West Coast. On arrival at Greymouth collect your hire car and make your way to your accommodation.

Greymouth - Franz Josef (205 kms/128 miles)
Depart Greymouth/Hokitika and continue south to Franz Josef Glacier.

Spend time today in the area around Franz Josef. Perhaps take part in a guided walk to the foot of the Franz Josef Glacier, or onto the ice itself. Alternatively, enjoy a helicopter sightseeing flight over the icefields.

Franz Josef Glacier - Queenstown (404 kms/253 miles)
Depart Franz Josef and continue down the West Coast via Haast Pass, the Kawarau Gorge and along the shores of Lakes Wanaka and Hawea to Queenstown.

Queenstown
Experience some of the range of activities that this township has to offer or, for those seeking a more tranquil day, perhaps take a cruise across the lake on the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw.

Queenstown - Te Anau (170 kms/106 miles)
Depart Queenstown and make your way to Te Anau, gateway to the World Heritage listed Fiordland National Park.

Milford Sound
Today enjoy the Real Journeys scheduled coach tour to Milford Sound. In Milford enjoy a cruise on the sound on board a Nature Cruise (only operates 01 Oct-30 Apr, during May-Sep the Nature Cruise will be substituted with the Scenic Cruise). Picnic lunch is available on board at an extra cost. After your cruise return to Te Anau for overnight.

Te Anau - Invercargill (160 kms/100 miles)
Depart Te Anau and make your way to Invercargill.

Invercargill - Dunedin (220 kms/138 miles)
Depart Invercargill and drive to Dunedin via the Southern Scenic route along a wild coastline and through the magnificent landscape of the Catlins (one of New Zealand's best kept secrets) to the university town of Dunedin.

Dunedin - Christchurch (360 kms/225 miles)
Depart Dunedin and make your way back up the East Coast to Christchurch.

Depart Christchurch
Time this morning for final sightseeing or last minute souvenir shopping before you make your way to Christchurch Airport to return your rental car. Check in for your flight to Auckland, where you will connect with a Air New Zealand flight via Los Angeles or Hong Kong back to the UK.
